About the SOOS project
SOOS — Sovereign Object OS — is an open standards initiative producing IETF Internet-Drafts for the infrastructure layer that makes agentic AI systems reliable. The project is currently led by MyAuberge K.K., with active participation from the broader IETF community.
Mission
Agentic AI systems — software that acts on behalf of humans across documents, bookings, contracts, financial instructions, and other consequential objects — are being deployed without a shared operational standard. There is no common specification for how an agent declares its intent, how authority is delegated and revoked, how compliance with applicable law is enforced at runtime, or how a complete record of what the agent did is produced and preserved.
SOOS exists to fill those gaps. Not by imposing a framework, but by writing the missing specifications — at the right layer, using existing technology where it fits, and publishing everything as open IETF standards that anyone can implement.
The goal is performance as much as safety. Agents with clear scope, verifiable authorization, and complete execution records are more capable, more debuggable, and more trustworthy — not just more compliant. Better control means better software. That is the design premise.
A note on how this work was made
The SOOS draft suite is a human-AI collaboration. The protocol architecture, standards strategy, gap analysis, and governing design decisions are the work of the human authors. The drafting, iteration, and text production were done in close partnership with AI.
We say this plainly because we think it matters: if we are writing specifications for governed agentic AI systems, we should be transparent about how those specifications were produced. We are not the first standards effort to use the tools we are helping to govern. We do not expect to be the last.
